Gluten Free & Dairy Free Cinnamon Apple Streusel Muffins

Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free and Soy-Free.

These delicious, moist muffins are great for breakfast, mid-day snacking or dessert. With a crunchy, crumby top, these are bound to be a hit with your loved ones or yourself.

Muffin base: 

  • 2 cups gluten-free all purpose flour 
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder 
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda  
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 
  • 1/2 cup olive oil 
  • 1 cup sugar 
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups peeled diced apples 

Streusel Topping: 

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 
  • 1 tablespoon gluten-free all purpose flour 
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon 
  • 1 tablespoon melted dairy-free butter


  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar 
  • 2 tablespoons almond milk
  • Splash of vanilla extract


  1.  Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease. Set aside. 
  2.   Rinse, peel and dice the apples. Set aside. 
  3.  In a large mixing bowl, sift and then whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Set aside. 
  4.  In a medium bowl, whisk together oil and add room temperature eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract, mixing well and incorporating air bubbles for about one minute.   
  5.  Add flour mixture and diced apples to wet batter and mix with a spatula until just combined. Careful not to overmix as the batter will be very thick. 
  6. In a small bowl, add brown sugar, gluten-free AP flour, cinnamon, and melted butter. Whisk with a fork to combine. 
  7.  Evenly divide the batter into prepared muffin tins to about 3/4 full. Top with a tablespoon of the streusel topping, lightly pressing the crumb into the top of the muffin batter. 
  8. Bake at 425°F for 5 minutes and then drop the heat down to 350°F for 15 minutes until the tops of the muffins are a crispy golden color. 
  9.  Remove from oven and allow muffins to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. 
  10.  Mix together the confectionery sugar, almond milk, vanilla extract and drizzle over the cooled muffins.
